Jonathan Fairclough

Experienced Social Worker & Court mentor

Jonathan has extensive experience of court work, working with CAFCASS and legal departments.

He is a Court mentor for newly qualified social workers and has covered almost all types of social work assessment whilst also regularly attending Legal Planning Meetings, including those within the auspices of Public Law Outline (PLO) proceedings.

Staple court work assignments include discharging of care orders, Children and Family Assessments, Adoption Orders, Special Guardianship Assessments, Parenting Assessments, Placement with Parents Schedule 3 assessments, Age Assessments and Secure Orders, Section 35 Assessments.

Jonathan is a member of Sexually Harmful Behaviour Panel and has had extensive experience of traffic light systems/risk mitigation related to this area of social work and joint working with all related agencies.

He is also a CSE “Champion” for the Looked After Children’s Team. Specialism on caseload and co-working with ASYE social workers as lead social worker.

Jonathan is Vice Chair for the ‘Missing From Home’ Panel and has worked alongside Service Manager and deputized in her absence. This included setting recommendations and flagging concerns about practice and risk management, and also involved direct work alongside police and Protect Team conducting assessments in ongoing cases where CSE and CCE were of concern.

He was also Involved in Steering Group to redesign social work documents with the IT service. The group created new documents and flow charts for vital assessments including care plans and statutory visit forms which were commensurate with changing permanence policy.
