He undertakes civil, commercial, employment, regulatory and family cases. He is authorised to undertake public and direct access cases by the BSB.
Gwynn Price-Rowlands undertakes a broad range of civil litigation. He has done a considerable amount of personal injury and medical negligence cases in recent years, including CFA instructions, and he has represented Claimants and Defendants in chemical poisoning disputes, accidents in factories, hospitals, and oil rigs, and actions following surgery and midwifery. He represented the Defendant in the first million pound structured settlement in England v Wales (Brown v Mersey Regional Health Authority)
Gwynn has also undertaken a substantial amount of Planning and Professional Conduct actions. He has appeared for the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board on several large-scale planning applications and for commercial clients in major road scheme investigations. He also does local planning matters involving rights of way and neighbours disputes at both planning hearings and in the courts. Direct access from surveyors and public access is regularly undertaken and he has advised political parties in electoral boundary re-organisation.
In professional conduct issues he has advised a large number of doctors and consultants and appeared before the GMC, Employment Tribunals, the EAT and the Court of Appeal. He has also represented dentists and veterinary surgeons.
In addition, Gwynn was a part-time employment judge for over ten years. He has been before the Employment Appeal Tribunal, the High Court, the Administrative Court, the Court of Appeal and the Divisional Court, on many occasions, representing employers and employees, as well as before Employment Tribunals throughout the country. Several cases have involved public law and human rights issues and he has acted in complex discrimination disputes. He advises on (and drafts) employment contracts
Gwynn has extensive experience of commercial litigation. This includes building, employment and entertainment contracts, copyright and patent disputes, sports law and insolvency. He has also represented Claimants and Defendants in a wide range of important civil litigation matters especially chemical poisoning disputes, accidents in factories, hospitals and on oil rigs, and medical negligence actions following surgery. He was Standing Counsel to the Department of Trade and Industry, for many years, undertaking company and commercial matters on their behalf.
In regards to family cases, Gwynn mainly undertakes matrimonial finance and ancillary relief cases and has done research into recent developments in this area of law at the University of Bristol. He has a particular interest in ante-nuptial agreements and cohabitation cases. He also does children’s applications (public and private law).
