Catherine specialises in criminal law, both defending and prosecuting. She practices in the SE and London Circuit. Catherine’s practice spans the spectrum of offences in the Crown Courts and Youth Courts. Catherine has appeared defending as a Leading Junior in murder, manslaughter and fraud cases.

She has a wealth of experience in representing young defendants and those who are vulnerable and therefore require a high degree of care and a strong and close working relationship with instructing solicitors.

Catherine’s thorough approach and eye for detail ensures cases with a large volume of evidence and unused material are prepared carefully either to ensure the cases are prosecuted fairly and efficiently or defended rigorously, where necessary pursuing rulings to have cases dismissed if disclosure is not properly met.

Catherine also works closely with instructing solicitors to conduct private prosecutions and has particular experience in conducting prosecutions under animal cruelty and dangerous dogs provisions.

In addition to Crown Court matters Catherine practices extensively in the Courts Martial system having successfully defended a large number of HM Forces personnel from all 3 Services of all ranks.

Catherine vigorously defends matters across a broad spectrum covering the military specific offences such as negligently performing a duty or desertion as well as the more general criminal offences such as rape, sexual assaults or grievous bodily harm assaults. Catherine’s military experience assists her to understand cases brought against HM Forces personnel and gives her a real advantage when defending cases where an in depth understanding of the military machine is not only required but of a great advantage.
